Kenton Nelson

9.14.2011
For the longest time, I've been trying to figure out who the artist is that painted several of the gorgeous pieces on the set of Something's Gotta Give. My search even had me emailing the set designer at one point, with no success. Finally, I'm happy to say, my search has come to an end! I was rooting around on the internet a few days ago and found a blog from Interior Designer Patricia Gray in Vancouver and she'd posted about the artist a few years ago.

Jack Nicholson looking at one of Nelson's paintings.
His name is Kenton Nelson and he's a painter from California. I absolutely love the vibrant colours that he uses in his art. If you've seen the movie, you might remember how much his paintings stood out against the very neutral backdrop of Diane Keaton's Hampton's house (one of my most favourite set designs from a movie).

The lighthouse is one of Nelson's paintings.

The painting in the front hall is still my favourite.

His paintings are so happy! Maybe because they all seem like summer. You can see more of them here.
