Blogpodium 2014

9.15.2014
This weekend I had the pleasure of attending BlogPodium for the first time. This event of 300+ bloggers from across the country is the only one of its kind in Canada that I know of and it was such a fantastic event. I haven't been the best at keeping up with my blog lately, but I have found myself in front of my computer at home a lot working on design projects. It can get a bit lonely, so the lovely people behind BlogPodium, Jennifer Flores of Rambling Renovators in particular, are to be thanked. It's so great to get out and meet so many other people in similar industries and have the opportunity to discuss the issues that are on our minds. If you have a blog or a small business website, I highly recommend it. Definitely check it out for next year.

There were great sessions throughout the day - some more technical (Essential SEO and Google Analytics), and some that were more creative (Tabletop photography and a Ryobi power tools workshop). I felt like I was in university again madly trying to capture what all the fantastic speakers were saying. I haven't written that furiously with a pen in years!

The focus of the day was on entrepreneurship and the keynote speakers brought a lot to that discussion. Scott McGillivray from HGTV is obviously one of the most ambitious guys out there (I think he said he owned and was leasing 25 properties by the age of 25 - whoa!). There were a lot of people who wanted to talk to him, but I managed to sneak a photo in...

Monika Hibbs was another panelist. If you aren't familiar with her blog, have a look. It's so beautifully laid out and clean. Her story is really interesting (doctor turned blogger) and she brought a ton of insight about the online world.

I leave you with one more photo just for fun... These HGTV guys are so cute!
